August 2025

Latest news:

The overall energy of life has slowed down considerably this month, which has been a welcome relief. There isn’t much in the way of new art, but I have been having fun with some pencil sketches, so that’s all I have really had to share.

As much as I love painting, both traditional and digital, where I can play with color and light, I’ve always loved drawing in pencil or charcoal (or conté), there is something that feels almost therapeutic about it.

In The Studio:

One of the main reasons for the recent focus on sketching is that I’m really trying to get better at creating “content“ with my art. Beyond just posting a picture of what I have drawn or painted, presenting it in a way that makes it more fun for the viewer is a skill in itself. So I’m trying to get better at video editing. I finally have a vision for what I want them to look like, I just have to get better at making them so that they turn out the way I want.

This particular format will work well (I think) for any sort of traditional art. I might have to come up with a separate idea for digital paintings...but we’ll see.

At Home:

Things have been much quieter at home this month, thank goodness!

The dogs are doing great and getting along great together. The new boy is getting adjusted to our household routines, and settling in nicely.

He’s still very much a “morning dog“, wanting me up and out of bed before sunup (even on weekends).

Chloe used to be like this as well, but has mellowed on it with time and now lets me sleep later if I want. But with Mojo raring to go early, she joins in. So we’re working on that, lol!

The heat and humidity have finally eased and it’s starting to feel like fall. I’m in no hurry for winter, but the cooler weather has been very pleasant.

I hope that your August has been lovely, bright and breezy with lots of fun with your dog!

God bless!

Jennifer
